The Kidnapping of Pocahontas

by Jordan

Samuel Argall came on a ship from England after John Smith had gone and soon he took charge of Jamestown.  He had heard about Pocahontas saving John Smith’s life and that she was Powhatan’s favorite daughter.

One day Samuel Argall saw Pocahontas with some friends who were accompanying her on a walk.  He felt the urge to kidnap her and trade her to Powhatan for all the food that the people of Jamestown wanted.  Samuel Argall approached them and asked if Pocahontas could take a tour on his boat without company.  He promised not to hurt her, so her friends let her go.  As soon as her friends vanished in the distance Samuel Argall and some of his friends trapped Pocahontas and brought her to Jamestown.

In Jamestown Pocahontas was treated well and had enough to eat.  She was kept in a cabin guarded by John Rolfe.  After a while John and Pocahontas grew very fond of each other and decided to get married in England.  Pocahontas took the name Rebecca when she was baptized into Christianity.  Pocahontas and John were so very happy together that they decided to have a baby.  They named him Thomas.  But sadly, at age 21 Pocahontas died of small pox.

Pocahontas was a very peaceful girl and when the settlers came she befriended them. When times were rough she helped out and when stuff went wrong she was calm.  Pocahontas had a big heart.
