The 9/11 Attack on the Pentagon

by E.J.

9/11/01 was a tragedy in the air. Terrorists boarded four airplanes. They flew in different routes to destroy the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the White House. The Pentagon is a building for military defense. The military’s strategy is planned there. The Pentagon is located in Arlington, Virginia. The Pentagon is called that because it is shaped like a pentagon.

Since 9/11 America is much safer now. They have put in a metal detector and a scanner at the security check point in the airport. You would have to take off your shoes and take out your keys (if you have any) and anything metal. You would have to walk through the metal detector (if you are an unaccompanied minor you might want to pass your button to the person at the metal detector). Liquids and gels have to be in a lockable bag and have to be three ounces to be able to pass the security check point.

The memorial at the Pentagon has a bench for every person that died. It is arranged by date of birth, age and which way it is pointing. If the bench is pointing to the Pentagon the person died on the plane and if the bench is pointing to the sky the person died in the Pentagon. In most cases people can see were the plane hit the Pentagon. I constantly saw the Falkenberg family’s memorials. The Falkenberg family died on the plane. In their family was the youngest person that died on the plane. Her name was Dana Falkenberg. She was three years old at the time of 9/11 and so was I. Her dad’s name was Charles S. Falkenberg and her mom’s name was Lessie Whittington. She also had a sister whose name was Zoe Falkenberg.
